Yamal’s 2024–25 Season: A Journey of Talent and Triumph on the Pitch

In the first match of the 2024–25 La Liga season on 18 August 2024, Yamal assisted Lewandowski to help Barcelona equalize against Valencia before Lewandowski converted a penalty in the second half to help the match end 2–1.

In the following match against Athletic Bilbao on 24 August, Yamal scored his first goal of the season in another 2–1 victory. 

On 19 September, Yamal scored his first UEFA Champions League goal, netting the equalizer in their 2–1 loss to Monaco, during the inaugural matchweek of the newly formatted Champions League league phase; in the process, he became the second youngest scorer in Champions League history at 17 years and 68 days, behind teammate Ansu Fati, who scored at 17 years and 40 days on 20 October 2020. 

On 26 October, at the age of 17 years and 105 days, Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in El Clásico history when he scored the third goal in a 4-0 victory against Real Madrid, surpassing the record of his team mate Ansu Fati who did so at the age of 17 years and 359 days in October 2020. During the match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Yamal and his Barcelona teammates Ansu Fati and Raphinha were targeted with racial abuse by a group of home supporters.

Lamine Yamal has won the 2024 Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or Gala in Paris today.

Since its inception in 2018, the award has been awarded to Mbappe, De Ligt, Pedrie, Garvey and Bellingham, and from playing for Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez to playing a leading role in Spain's run to the Euro 2024 title, Yamal has established himself as one of the best young players in the game. His achievements have now been recognised with the Copa Award, given to the best under-21 footballer. The 17-year-old Yamal made a breakthrough in La Liga, scoring five goals and making seven assists before winning the Best goal award and the best Young Player award at Euro 2024, which Spain won.

On stage at the Chatelet Theatre, we see Lamine Yamal wearing a double-breasted bomber jacket with a wide neck, a black shirt, bow tie and loafers.
